Hisar church attack: NHRC issues notice to Haryana DGP, Chief Secretary

A day after the main accused in the Hisar church vandalism was arrested, the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has issued notices to the Chief Secretary and DGP, Haryana and has asked for a report in the matter within two weeks.

The officials have also been directed to report about steps taken for protection of religious places of minorities in the state.

Haryana Police had yesterday arrested Anil Godara, the main accused in the vandalisation of an under-construction church in a village in Hisar district.

The miscreants had placed an idol of Hindu god on the premises which was later removed by the police.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had earlier expressed concern over the incident and asked the state government to submit a report.
