Chandigarh: Claiming that Haryana was facing
its worst power crisis, opposition BJP today accused the
Bhupinder Singh Hooda government of failing to fulfil its
election promise of providing uninterrupted electricity.

"Chief Minister Hooda, who first took over the reigns
of the state in March 2005, had promised round-the-clock
power in three years," state BJP chief Krishan Pal Gujjar told
reporters here.

"Just before the October 2009 assembly polls, he again
made false promise of providing uninterrupted power during the
next two years. The truth is that Haryana is going through its
worst power crisis," he said.

He alleged that the Congress government was in "deep
slumber" and oblivious of the hardships of the common people.

He claimed that people in both rural and urban areas
were reeling under power cuts ranging between 11-20 hours
daily.

"Three units of the Panipat thermal power plant are
lying shut since November last. A unit each of Hisar and
Yamunanagar thermal plants has also been lying closed for past
sometime. The demand is surging, but the Government has
utterly failed to meet the needs," he said, adding the problem
has been compounded by government`s lack of vision over the
years.
