Chandigarh: Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Thursday said there was nothing wrong in the former chief of Naval Staff, Admiral Suresh Mehta's reported remark congratulating him for poll victory while prefacing his request to him for out-of-turn allotment of plot in the state last year.

"There was nothing wrong in it...You (media) will also praise, has he (Admiral Mehta)done something wrong..these are basic courtesies," Hooda said when asked if he thought it was appropriate for then Admiral to have made the congratulatory remarks.

Five days back, a leading English daily had reported that the Admiral, besides sending the "congratulating" message in the letter, sought a plot in any urban estate, preferably in Sector 23, Gurgaon or a nearby sector, from the state government.

Former Army Chief, General Deepak Kapoor, too had been alloted a plot under the state government's preferential scheme.

"It is clear in the laid down rules that this (preferential policy) is not for everyone and only for those of Haryana domicile who have excelled in their fields," Hooda told reporters in response to a question at a press conference here.

Meanwhile, when asked to comment on a report appearing in another national daily today highlighting plight of Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer Sanjiv Chaturvedi, Hooda said he was not aware about it.
