Former Chief Minister of Haryana and INLD president Om Prakash Chautala has been authorised by the party to take a call on the issue of merger with the Janata Parivar.

Chandigarh: Former Chief Minister of Haryana and INLD president Om Prakash Chautala has been authorised by the party to take a call on the issue of merger with the Janata Parivar.

A resolution in this regard was passed at a meeting of the National State Executive, legislature group and Political Affairs Committee of the INLD, held in Sirsa town yesterday, where party leaders supported the idea of the merger.

The meeting was held under the leadership of INLD's state unit chief Ashok Arora and attended by party leaders, including MLA and party's general secretary Abhay Chautala.

Abhay Chautala said that the leaders authorised the party president to take a decision on the merger issue.

O P Chautala, who is serving a decade-long jail term in a teachers' recruitment scam case, was granted a month's parole by the Delhi government on April 4.

Delhi's Lt Governor (LG) Najeeb Jung granted the relief to Chautala to enable him prepare his appeal against the High Court's March 5 judgement upholding the conviction and ten years sentence awarded to him by a trial court.
