Khattar launches 'Swachh campaign' in Haryana

Chandigarh Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Saturday launched 'Swachh Haryana-Swachh Bharat' campaign in the state and urged people to play an active role in it and make it a success.

"We have to make cleanliness a part of our nature in order to make the campaign a total success. The people should make their valuable contribution to the campaign. We will have to create a society where there is no place for crime, drugs and addiction," Khattar said after launching the campaign in Faridabad on the 49th foundation day of Haryana state.

The CM urged the state MPs to spend more on the construction of toilets under the Member of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme.

Emphasising on the need for cleanliness, Khattar directed municipal corporations, municipal councils, municipalities, city councils and concerned bodies in the rural areas to pick up garbage everyday to prevent it from causing diseases.

He said a target has been set to construct toilets in every house of rural Haryana by 2019 under the Nirmal Bharat campaign.

The CM said the Swachh campaign is to realize the dream of Mahatma Gandhi.

"We have launched the campaign from Faridabad to pay our tribute to Mahatma Gandhi," he said.

Khattar also launched a web portal of the campaign through which people could check the progress of the campaign in all the 21 districts of the state. They can also send their suggestions to make the campaign better.
