Kin of deceased in Dalit violence given jobs: Haryana govt

provided jobs, a Haryana government official said today.

"Two members of the family of those killed in the
violence have already been given appointment letters for
government jobs," Haryana`s Chief Parliamentary Secretary
Jaiveer Balmiki said on the `Tehrvi` (post-death ritual) of
deceased Tara Chand (70) and his daughter Suman (18).

He also said that each aggrieved family was being given
two quintals of wheat for meeting its day-to-day needs.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi yesterday met the relatives
of Tara Chand and his disabled daughter Suman who were burnt
alive and other dalit families targeted in caste violence in a
village here and assured them of stringent action against the
guilty.

Congress President Sonia Gandhi had directed the state
government to provide immediate succour to the victims
prompting the Chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda to take
steps to rehabilitate them.

Making a fervent appeal to the people to maintain peace
and amity in the village at all costs, he asked the elderly to
play a role in it.
