The night temperatures rose by up to seven notches above normal since yesterday, a MeT department report said.

In Haryana, Ambala recorded a low of 15.3 degrees Celsius, six degrees above normal while Hisar's minimum rose by over seven notches since yesterday to 14.6 degree Celsius, which was five degrees above normal.

Karnal recorded a low of 13.4 degrees Celcius, up by four notches since yesterday.

Chandigarh's minimum also registered a sharp increase with temperature settling at 16 degrees Celcius, seven notches above normal. Yesterday's minimum here was recorded at 11.7 degrees Celcius.

In Punjab, Amritsar recorded a low of 10.4 degrees Celsius, three notches above normal.

Patiala and Ludhiana also recorded an increase in the minimum temperatures since yesterday with the mercury settling at 14.4 degrees Celcius and 12.9 degrees Celcius respectively.

Yesterday, the maximum temperatures hovered between 23 and 27 degrees Celcius in most parts of Punjab and Haryana.

Meanwhile, few regions including Chandigarh, Ambala, Kurukshetra, Mohali and Ropar, experienced light to moderate rainfall.
