Firozpur Jhirkha: Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi has hit out at the Narendra Modi-led government at Centre and called it a “government of marketing”.
Addressing a election rally in Mewat region of Haryana, Thursday, Rahul said, “Whatever they do is only for the industrialists. We do not run government for one or two industrialists, we do not run a government of marketing.”
Gandhi also accused the Modi government of increasing the prices of live saving medicines to favour American companies.
“Before going to America, Modiji removed minimum prices of medicines for cancer,diabetes etc for American companies. Cancer medicine which was available for Rs 8,000 now costs Rs 1 lakh due to BJP government's policies,” he said, while also accusing the new government of diluting acts like the MGNREGA and Land Acquisition Act.
Rahul said that the Congress party will fight to save the pro-poor legislations introduced by the Congress-led UPA government.
The Congress leader also accused the Modi government of having failed to safeguard the country at the borders.
“Chinese Army was in our country, and our PM was 'swinging' with the Chinese President, he did not say a word,” Rahul said.
Praising the people of Haryana, Rahul said that they are second to none, adding that the Congress is proud of the progress made by the state in the last ten years..
Referring to the contribution of farmers, soldiers from the sate and its sports persons, Rahul said, “There should be a new slogan for Haryana - Jai Jawan, Jai Kisaan aur Jai Pahalwaan".
“Our soldiers are at the borders, our farmers toil in the fields, but then one neta comes and says that nothing happened in 60 years?,” he said.
“Today India has been recognized and respected by the entire world, this has not been done by one single person, but you,” he added.
