Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder
Singh Hooda on Wednesday said the state government would constitute senior citizen clubs in all cities of the state and an annual
assistance of Rs five lakh would be given to each of them.
Addressing a gathering at Panchkula near here, Hooda said
day care centres and old age homes would also be set up in all
the villages across the state to ensure that the old do not
experience loneliness in their twilight years.
One thousand such homes would come up in the first phase,
he announced and asked people to join hands with the
government in its mission to care for the elderly.
"It is our duty to serve the old. The society always
needs senior citizens` experience and blessings. So it is our
ethical responsibility to take care of their emotional and
other needs," he said.
