Chandigarh: The minimum temperatures across Punjab and Haryana today hovered above normal levels, but severe cold conditions continued to grip the two states during the day time.
Chandigarh residents were greeted by foggy conditions this morning with a minimum temperature settled at 7.6 degree Celsius, up three notches than normal.
Ambala registered a low of 7.6 degree Celsius, up by two degrees and the minimum temperatures at Hisar, Karnal and Bhiwani were recorded at 8.7, 8.2 and 7.4 degree Celsius respectively, all above normal. Narnaul registered a low of 5.5 degrees.
Both Ludhiana and Patiala in Punjab recorded minimum temperatures of 8.6 degrees, up by three notches each.
However, Amritsar witnessed a cold night at 2.2 degrees.
Most places in Haryana and Punjab remained engulfed in fog today.
Icy cold winds swept the region during the day with maximum temperatures plummeting several notches below normal here and at most other places across the states during the past few days.
The maximum temperatures have been settling in the range of 13-16 degrees.
