London: Almost two-third of the pregnantwomen believe they are regularly exposed to physical risk atwork, a new research said.
The results of this study, which was published in thejournal Gaceta Sanitaria, found that more than half of thewomen (56 per cent) worked standing up or frequently liftedheavy objects during the course of their paid work whilepregnant. In addition, 63 per cent said they were subjected toworkplace stress, and 62 per cent frequently experienced somephysical risk – noise, high temperatures or humidity,vibrations, radiation and electromagnetic fields (datavisualisation screens). Almost one-quarter of the women (22 per cent) said theywere exposed to some chemical agent, particularly cleaningproducts, and 6 per cent to biological risk factors, such asin jobs involving the care of others.
