Chennai: The Tamil Nadu Government today said it had put in place preventive measures to check the spread of A(H1N1) or swine flu and asked people not to panic.
The Directorate of Public Health said sufficient drugs required against swine flu had been stocked in government hospitals and separate wards had been set up for those affected by the virus.
Further, a high level team comprising experts was making weekly review of the situation and all preventive measures are being taken, an official press release here said.
The government advised against self-medication for those suffering from fever, cold and throat pain, which are the symtoms of A(H1N1) and advised them to immediately consult the nearest government hospital. Therefore, there was no need to panic, the government said, even as two persons reportedly died of swine flu in the State recently.
