Rescue device for heart attack victims at public place
Coimbatore: Automated external defibrillator (AED) would be installed in ten public places here under an initiative by the Rotary Club to help save people who suffer heart attacks while on visit to such places.
The first of the AEDs, each costing Rs 1.5 lakh, was today handed over to District Collector M Karunagaran for being installed on the Collectorate premises.
The AEDs would be installed at different places, including three in the railway station, district sessions court, city bus stand and airport, where public congregate in large numbers, Rotary District President K S Balakrishnan said.
This could be for the first time in the country such emergency rescue device was being installed in public places, he said, adding that Red Cross Society has come forward to train people and also general public in using the apparatus.
