37 more dengue cases in Delhi

New Delhi: The total number of dengue cases in the national capital Thursday rose to 1,572 with 37 more people testing positive for the mosquito-borne disease, official data said.

Of the 37 cases, 13 were reported from areas in North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC), 14 from South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) and 10 from the East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC).

Since dengue hit the capital this year, SDMC has reported the maximum number of cases at 594.

There have been four deaths so far.

Apart from Delhi, 12 cases originated from neighbouring states pushing the total to 1,584.

In 2011, 968 dengue cases were reported in Delhi, with five deaths, down from 5,957 cases with seven deaths the year before that.
