Two more persons succumbed to swine flu in Telangana Tuesday, raising the toll due to the H1N1 virus to 65 in the state so far this year.

Hyderabad: Two more persons succumbed to swine flu in Telangana Tuesday, raising the toll due to the H1N1 virus to 65 in the state so far this year.

Forty-one fresh swine flu positive cases have been reported, taking the total number of cases to 1,842, a statement issued by the state government said here.

"In the current year-- from January 1 till March 9-- 5,728 samples have been tested, out of which 1,842 were found to be positive. The number of deaths because of other complications and swine flu as on date are 65," it said.

The bulletin said that 106 samples were sent for testing yesterday, of which 41 tested positive for the infection.

"The number of positive cases reported in the last six days (up to March 9) is 26, 42, 51, 32, 31 and 41," it said.

The bulletin issued yesterday put the number of deaths at 63.

The government has advised citizens to take precautions such as reporting to hospital on appearance of early symptoms of swine flu like high fever, sneezing, cough and body pain.

Sufficient stock of medicines is available at different hospitals in the state and ample testing kits are also available, it said.

Homoeopathy doctors have advised that citizens can also take homoeo medicine as a preventive measure under the guidance of a homoeopathy doctor, it added.
