Aligarh: Scientists at interdisciplinary
biotechnology laboratory of the Aligarh Muslim University

multi-drug resistant superbug.

The New Delhi metallo-beta-lactamase-1 was first
identified in December 2009 in New Delhi and since then the

spread of this bacteria through humans."
The detection of the superbug, which was first reported
in medical journal Lancet in 2009, had sparked off a
controversy regarding the origin of this superbug.
