Apollo Hospitals enters African market
Chennai: Healthcare service provider Apollo Hospitals today announced foray into the African market and has plans to set up 30 tele-medicine units in that country.
As part of this initiative, Apollo Hospitals has inked an MoU with Africa-based AfroIndia Medical Services, Apollo said in a statement.
Apollo Hospitals Group Chairman Prathap C Reddy has inaugurated three telemedicine centres at Lagos, Port Harcourt and Abuja in Nigeria respectively, in the presence of Nigeria Health Minister Eyitayo Lambo.
The telemedicine centres would help doctors in several African countries to interact with specialists at Apollo, the statement said.
Reddy said the MoU would pave the way for availability of tertiary and quaternary health care to large number of patients.
Telemedicine enabled peripheral medical devices such as BP apparatus, ECG, oxygen saturation measurement would be made available to patients at their homes, the statement added.
