Bombay Hospital sets up facility to image brain diseases

Mumbai: The department of Nuclear Medicine of Bombay Hospital here has set up two new scanning procedures in collaboration with the Radiopharmaceuticals Division of Bhabha Atomic Research Centre using indigenously produced radiopharmaceuticals for imaging brain diseases and cancer.

Till now the radiopharmaceuticals had to be imported and patients had to wait for long time. However, with the production of the new radiopharmaceuticals indigenously by BARC, these scanning procedures can be done everyday and the cost is also low, a release said.

Dr B A Krishna, Head of the department of Nuclear Medicine of Bombay Hospital said clinical studies have been set up by the department technical staff in collaboration with BARC scientists.

Bombay Hospital will continue to collaborate with BARC scientists in their effort, in clinical studies of new products which will help patients across the country, he said.
