Bypass surgery without anaesthesia performed in Nashik

Nashik: The city-based Saibaba Heart
Institute has successfully performed the first bypass surgery
without anaesthesia on a woman patient, and she is doing well.

Noted cardiac surgeons Dr Abhaysingh Walia and Dr
Anirudhha Dharmadhikari performed the surgery on the
65-year-old woman Jayashree Girola recently and she is fine
in hospital`s ICU unit, Dr Walia told reporters here.

Anaesthetists Dr Chandrashekhar Khairnar administered
injection to get away for the awake surgery, he said.

Surgery was performed through auctopus machine which
kept on function of the heart during the surgery period,
doctors approached Girola and even played songs during
operation, Dr Walia added.
