Washington: A common parasite thought to be harmless may actually be causing subtle changes in the brain, and people infected with it are seven times more likely to attempt suicide, a new study has claimed. Researchers from the Michigan State University found that a common parasite Toxoplasma gondii can cause inflammation over time, which produces harmful metabolites that can damage brain cells.
