Dr Reddy`s launches Alzheimer`s disease drug in US market

New Delhi: Drug firm Dr Reddy`s Laboratories today said it has launched generic Donepezil Hydrochloride tablets, used to treat Alzheimer`s disease, in the US market.

The company introduced Donepezil Hydrochloride tablets of 23 mg strength on July 26, following approval from the US Food and Drug Administration for its abbreviated new drug application, Dr Reddy`s Laboratories said in a BSE filing.

The product is a generic equivalent to aricept tablets. Aricept is a trademark used by Eisai Inc under license from Eisai R&D Management Co, it added.

The aricept 23 mg brand had US sales of nearly USD 92.6 million moving annual total (MAT) for the 12 months ended May 2013, as per IMS Health data, Dr Reddy`s Laboratories said.
