London: A new research has found that exercising for just half an hour a day can slash the risk of developing bowel cancer. It has long been known that people with an active lifestyle reduce their risk of developing the disease, reports the Daily Express. Now scientists from the Washington University School of Medicine have shown that those who keep fit are up to three times less likely to develop large polyps, or growths, that can lead to bowel cancer. They found that those who indulge in some activity such as brisk walking are 16 per cent less likely to develop bowel polyps. And they were 30 per cent less likely to develop large or advanced polyps - more liable to develop into cancer.
