Puducherry Chief Minister N Rangasamy on Thursday informed the Assembly that the government hospitals and the Centre for Chest Diseases were fully equipped with drugs and other facilities to diagnose and treat the patients complaining of swine flu.

Puducherry: Puducherry Chief Minister N Rangasamy on Thursday informed the Assembly that the government hospitals and the Centre for Chest Diseases were fully equipped with drugs and other facilities to diagnose and treat the patients complaining of swine flu.

Replying to opposition AIADMK legislator A Anbalagan on the floor of the House, who complained as soon as the budget session was resumed today that incidents of swine flu were reported from various quarters in Puducherry, the Chief Minister said the government hospitals were fully geared up and adequate stocks of drugs were available in the hospitals to manage the situation.

A separate ward had also been set up in the Centre for Chest Diseases at Gorimedu near here for admission of the patients, he said.

Rangasamy said people need not panic as the government hospitals were having stocks of drugs and machinery to treat the patients.

Earlier the AIADMK member said that the government should take precautionary steps as had been done in the neighbouring Tamil Nadu.

He also said that people were panicky about the occurrence of the swine flu and alleged that hospitals were lacking in drugs to come to the rescue of the suffering patients.
