Melbourne: Claudia Burkill has become the world's first person to beat a rare brain tumour.

The 8-year-old girl was told she had metastatic pineoblastoma, a malignant brain tumour, at the age of five and the family was told she had just few weeks to live, News.com.au reported.

Burkill's mother wrote on her Facebook page that the miraculous baby is cancer-free and no longer classed as terminally ill.

Now the family is dedicated to provide a life full of love, joy and happiness to the very first little girl in the world ever to survive metastatic pineoblastoma, she added.

Only about four cases of metastatic pineoblastoma are diagnosed every year and there is a survival rate of less than five percent worldwide.
