One more die of swine flu in West Bengal; toll reaches 14

 With one more person succumbing to swine flu in the city this afternoon, the toll due to the H1N1 virus in West Bengal reached 14 since January.

Kolkata: With one more person succumbing to swine flu in the city this afternoon, the toll due to the H1N1 virus in West Bengal reached 14 since January.

"A 40-year-old man who was suffering from swine flu died today afternoon. His condition was quite critical for last couple of weeks and he was on ventilation," West Bengal Principal Secretary (Health and Family Welfare) Moloy Dey said.

In the past 48 hours, five persons have succumbed to the disease taking the total number of swine flu deaths to 14 since January.

Dey said during past 24 hours another 14 persons from the city and its surrounding areas tested positive of the H1N1 virus taking the total number of affected to 213.

Of the total swine flu-afflicted patients, 141 have been discharged from different hospitals across the state after their full recovery since January, he said.
