Mumbai: Maharashtra Government has constituted a committee to coordinate treatment of swine flu cases across the state.

The decision was taken at a meeting of senior health officials at Mantralaya here today.

The meeting, chaired by additional chief secretary (public health) J K Banthia, reviewed reported cases of H1N1 virus infection in Pune and Mumbai.

Earlier this month, Pune saw the first swine flu death in the city since April last year.

It was decided to direct government and private hospitals in Mumbai, Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad to keep their ICU and isolation wards in readiness, an official said.

Health officials have also decided to undertake a public awareness campaign on swine flu.

Meanwhile, seven suspected cases of swine flu were reported in Aurangabad.

The swab test report of a 17-year old girl from Jalna was found positive, while the reports of six others were awaited.

All of them have been admitted to Government Medical College and Hospital, Aurangabad.
