London: A team of scientists discovered a series of genetic mutations associated to the
development of kidney cancer.
According to the latest issue of Nature magazine, not only the mutation in the VHL gene, now are related with the renal carcinoma the bright cell, chromophobe renal cell
carcinoma (CRCC), investigators of the Project Cancer Genotype from the Sanger Institute in Cambridge, UK found changes in the genes, in particular in the JARID1C and SETD2.
That team based its results on a study of DNA sequence that took more than 1,500 genes around tumour samples.
According to the scientifics, three of those genes are involved in the histone proteins that contribute to pack the DNA and play a very important roll in the cells working."Even in those bright cases, we show evidence of an important genetic heterogeneity", stressed Andy Futreal, co director of the project in the Sanger Institute.
