Geneva: The World Health Organisationon Thursday called on doctors to use antiviral drugs swiftly to themost vulnerable swine flu patients, to prevent severe casesand avoid swamping hospitals.WHO clinical expert Niki Shindo said the agency wouldissue new guidelines targeting three key groups in countrieswhere the A(H1N1) virus is spreading, to avoid severe casesthat could kill within a week.
The other two groups were those with rapidly worseningsymptoms, such as breathing difficulties and high fever formore than three days, while people found with pneumonia shouldbe treated immediately with antivirals and antibiotics.Bureau Report
