Beijing:Due to an early exposure to sex life, the incidence of cancer of the cervix among Chinese women is on the rise, according to experts.

Medical experts told a conference Tuesday that the incidence of cervical cancer among Chinese women has increased from less than five percent 20 years ago to 30 percent now due to early exposure to sex life, Shanghai Daily reported.
They said public education on cancer of the cervix and popularisation of screening were the most effective ways to curb the spread of the disease, which is so far the only preventable and treatable cancer.

Most of the Chinese women, however, are unaware of the prevention and clinical screening is lacking, doctors said.

China reports about 140,000 new cases each year, one third of the world`s total.
