Dhani Ram Shandil is the Congress party candidate from Solan constituency in Himachal Pradesh 2017 Assembly elections. His main rival this election is Bharatiya Janata Party’s Rajesh Kashyap, who is his son-in-law.
A former armyman, Shandil served the elite Dogra regiment and was also awarded Bharat Jyoti.
He is the sitting MLA of the Solan constituency and is also the Social Justice and Empowerment Minister in the Himachal Pradesh government.
In the last elections, Shandil won by a margin of nearly 4000 votes against Kumari Sheela of the BJP.
There is no criminal case against the Congress candidate.
Shandil’s wife is a doctor based in the national capital.
