Shimla: The cold wave conditions further intensified in tribal areas and mid and higher hills of Himachal Pradesh as mercury dropped by few notches across the state.
The tribal areas reeled under intense cold wave conditions with mercury staying 2 to 5 deg below freezing point while Keylong and Kalpa in twin tribal districts of Lahaul and Spiti Kinnaur recorded minimum temperatures at 2.9 deg and 4.2 deg respectively.
Manali too was cold with minimum temperature dipping to 6.2 deg while Solan and Chamba recorded a low of 7.9 deg and 9.7 deg, followed by Bhuntar and Shimla 10.5 deg, Sundernagar 10.8 deg, Nahan 13.6 deg, Una 14 deg and Dharamsala 18.2 deg, a drop of 2 to 4 deg C since yesterday.
The maximum day temperatures stayed close to normal with Una recording a high of 32 deg, followed by Sundernagar 28.3 deg, Bhuntar 28 deg, Dharamsala 26.8 deg, Nahan 26.5 deg, Solan 25.5 deg, Shimla 20.1 deg and Kalpa 17.4 deg C.
The local MeT office has predicted dry weather in the region with marginal fall in night temperature in higher hills.
