Shimla: Stressing that every developmental endeavour should be eco-friendly, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal today sought people's cooperation in making the hill-state polythene-free.

Inaugurating Van Vihar Vatika, a Rs 20-lakh project in Baba Balak Nath shrine at Deot-Sidh near here, Dhumal appealed to the stake holders to plant more trees as the government had lifted the ban on felling of bamboo in private lands.

Noting that increase in population in urban and semi-urban areas created major problems, the Chief Minister said the government was making a serious endeavour to improve infrastructure facilities, especially in religious shrines.

Planting a rudraraksha sapling, Dhumal wanted the people to protect the parks and help in beautification of parks by keeping them clean and free from litters.
