"The western disturbances are likely to affect the state for next two to three days," Manmohan Singh, director of the meteorological office, said.

Una town, located on the Punjab border, was the hottest at 39 degrees Celsius.

Shimla, situated at an altitude of 2,130 metres, was warm at 27.7 degrees Celsius, five notches above average.

Dharamsala, the venue of the Indian Premier League Match between Kings XI Punjab and Deccan Chargers on May 21, recorded a high of 35.2 degrees Celsius, 4.9 notches above average, while it was 35.2 degrees in Sundernagar, 34.7 degrees in Bhuntar and 23.4 degrees in Kalpa town.
