Shimla: Two new buses under Jawaharlal Nehru National Renewal Mission (JNNURM) would be flagged off by state Transport Minister G S Bali on Friday with fixed "lower" fare.
While the Himachal government has not taken any decision on reducing the bus fares in the wake of sharp fall in diesel prices.
Transport Minister said today that Nalagarh, Nahan and Parwanoo units of Himachal Road Transport Corporation would soon start new fixed fare buses of JNNURM to be plied by HRTC under MoU signed with HP Bus Stand and City Bus Management and Development Authority.
These buses would ply between Nalagarh and Shimla; Poanta and Chandigarh; and Chandigarh and Shimla?respectively to facilitate the commuters
Bali said that fixed fare will be charged in these buses which would be Rs 120 from Shimla to Nalagarh instead of normal fare of Rs 163 and Rs 105 from Shimla to Barotiwala instead of Rs 143.
The fare would be Rs 90 from Shimla to Barotiwala instead of Rs 125 from and Rs 40 instead of Rs 64 from Shimla to Solan, Bali added.
He further said that the bus fare between Paonta to Chandigarh will be Rs 130 instead of Rs 155, Rs 15 instead of Rs 20 from Paonta to Majra, Rs 20 instead of Rs 26 from Paonta to Dhaulakuan, Rs 50 in place of Rs 65 from Paonta to Nahan and Rs 65 in place of Rs 90 from Paonta to Kala Amb.
The bus fare between Shimla to Chandigarh will be Rs 145 instead of Rs 180, Rs 100 in place of Rs 140 from Shimla to Pinjore, Rs 90 instead of Rs 125 from Shimla to Parwanoo/Kalka and Rs 40 in place of Rs 64 from Shimla to Solan, he added.
