HP govt committed to welfare of employees: Baldi

Media reports earlier claimed that ruling BJP had decided against paying government employees on par with their counterparts in Punjab.

Shimla: The Himachal Pradesh government on Sunday termed as "baseless" and "misleading" media reports claiming that the ruling BJP had decided against paying government employees on par with their counterparts in neighbouring Punjab.

"The news appearing in a section of the press that Himachal would not give pay scales to its employees on par with Punjab government workers is misleading," said Finance Secretary Srikant Baldi.

A meeting was held under the chairpersonship of Chief Secretary Rajwant Sandhu yesterday, but issues related to pay scales and allowances of employees were not discussed, as reported by the media, he said.

"The reports were absolutely misleading and baseless. State government employees should not be misled by these," he said.

"We are committed to the welfare of employees in the state and every policy we take will be in their interest," he added.
