HP Govt to launch 2nd phase of anti-polythene campaign

The Himachal Pradesh government will launch the second phase of its drive against the use of polythene in the state next week which aims at "zero tolerance strategy for plastic/polythene".

strategy for plastic/polythene".

The second phase of the `Polythene Hatao-Paryavaran
Bachao campaign` will start from April 22, which is also
the `World Earth Day`, an official release said.

The first phase of the campaign was launched in
December last year. As part of it, the use of polythene and
plastic carry bags was banned and NGOs and officials collected
them from households for tarring of roads.

The week-long second phase would aim at achieving
"zero tolerance strategy for plastic/polythene waste
management", it added.
