Monsoon arrives in Himachal, causes heavy rains

Southwest Monsoon on Sunday advanced into parts of Himachal Pradesh with Sirmaur and Mandi districts receiving heavy rains.

districts receiving heavy rains.

Nahan was wettest in the region with 154 mm of rains
followed by Paonta 75 mm, Mandi 54.7 mm , and Sunder Nagar
31.6 mm.

Other places in the state to be lashed by rains
included Solan, Dharamshala, Jubbal and Jubbar Hatti and
Kumarsen.

The day temperatures remained 30 degree C with state
capital Shimla recording a high of 19.9 degree, a fall of five
degrees since yesterday and seven degree below normal.

Una in Shivalik foothills recorded a high of 28.2
degree against 34.4 degree yesterday, nine degree below normal
while Bhuntar recorded maximum temperature at 27.0, followed
by Sunder Nagar 25.8 degree, Dharamshala 24.6 degree, Nahan
24.3 degree, Solan 23.6 degree and Bhuntar 27.0 degree, four
to seven degree below normal.

More rainfall is expected in the state during next 24
hours.
