New Himachal CJ favours green bench

New Chief Justice of the Himachal Pradesh High Court Kurian Joseph today favoured setting up of a green bench of the Court in the hill state to deal with cases pertaining to ecology and environment.

a green bench of the Court in the hill state to deal with
cases pertaining to ecology and environment.

Soon after taking oath, Justice Kurian said he would
explore the possibility of setting up of a green bench of the
High Court in the state on the lines of the Kerala High Court.

The green bench would deal with cases relating to
ecology and environment, he told mediapersons here.

The new Chief Justice also favoured Himachal High Court
judges making public their assets.

Justice Joseph said he would see that no case should
remain pending in the High Court for more than a year.

Earlier, Justice Joseph, 57, was administered the oath
of office by Governor Urmila Singh at a simple function at the
Raj Bhawan here.

Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal, members of his Council
of Ministers, Assembly Speaker Tulsi Ram and senior state
government ministers attended the function.
