New Delhi: State-owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam
Ltd on Tuesday entered into an agreement with private mobile
operator Sistema Shyam to share its passive infrastructure,
including towers and bandwidth.
According to the agreement, BSNL would share bandwidth
that allows operators to carry out data services and
passive infrastructure with Sistema Shyam to help the new
telco roll out its network, a BSNL said in a statement.
BSNL did not give financial details of the deal.
This is for the first time BSNL is sharing its huge
infrastructure all across the country, including bandwidth
with another telecom service provider.
Earlier, it had signed Master Services Agreements (MSA)
with Aircel, Tatatele and Datacom on sharing of towers.
The sharing of infrastructure by BSNL would help the
existing and new operators in faster roll out of their
networks across the country and facilitate the tele-denesity
in rural areas, the statement added.
