Infosys partners with Nvidia, to set up technology centre

Bangalore: Software major Infosys Technologies and Nvidia, world leader in visual technologies and inventor of Graphics Processing Unit,(GPU) today announced a partnership to develop Nvidia Cuda (Compute Unified Device Architecture) Technology-enabled software solutions.

As the first step, the partnership will see setting up of the Infosys-Nvidia Technology campus at the Infosys campus here, Subu Goparaju, Vice President and Head of Software Engineering and Technology Labs, told media.

Cuda technology, developed by Santa Clara-headquartered, Nividia is a revolutionary architecture in the field of high performance computing. Cuda technology is designed to allow application developers to tap the unexploited power potential of GPU in order to accelerate a certain application, consequently boosting performance level.

Through this partnership, Infosys will focus on accelerating its application development process, by simplifying complex computational projects for its global and Indian customers across industry verticals including healthcare and life sciences, e-governance, finance and medical sciences.

Infosys will also work on its clients to convert their applictions into the Nvidia Cuda platform. This will help customers to reduce number of conventional server hardware at data centres, saving costs and power consumption.

Infosys will aim to leverage its existing expertise and IPS in grid computing and parallel computing to develop tools and methodolohies which can facilitate development and deployment of applications.
