Chennai: Corporate Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid on Friday expressed the hope that the trial in the Satyam scam will end this year.
"People are watching. As far as the courts are concerned, that can get to a conclusion this year, because it acts as a deterrent factor. Hope the case is completed this year," he said.
"I hope all the material required for a successful prosecution is available," he told reporters on the sidelines of funciton here today.
The Satyam scandal broke out last year after its founder chairman B Ramalinga Raju confessed to having cooked the books.
Commenting on the Maytas County Hill projects belonging to Maytas Properties, promoted by the Raju family, Khurshid said the government is discussing it with two large realty developers.
"We have made a proposal to one of the companies," he said, adding the two companies did not come on their own to fish in troubled waters. "It was the confidence given by the Government to them," he said.
