New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Tuesday, failed to submit a status report on the progress of its investigation in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots case against Congress leader Jagdish Tytler.
Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate SPS Laler, who is presently monitoring the investigation, asked the CBI to remain present in the court on February 22.
The CBI had started to be probe the case against Tytler following a directive by a Delhi court, rejecting the clean chit given to the Congress leader by the CBI.
ACMM Laler had refused to accept the CBI's closure report, ordering the agency to further probe Tytler's role in connection with this case as over 3,000 people from the Sikh community was killed during the riots.
The CBI had earlier told the court that Tytler "was not involved" in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots case relating to an attack on Gurdwara in Pulbangash.
The agency had sought dismissal of the victim's plea, saying the probe has made it clear that Tytler was not present on November 1, 1984, at Gurudwara Pulbangash in North Delhi where three people were killed during the riots. The CBI had said that Tytler was at Teen Murti Bhawan.
