New Delhi: Activist Yogendra Yadav was detained by Delhi Police in the early hours on Tuesday, from the site of a farmers' protest near Jantar Mantar in New Delhi.

The former AAP leader narrated the incident in a series of tweets.

Another former AAP leader Prashant Bhushan was also a part of this Jai Kisan rally who went to visit Yadav and others in Parliament Street Police Station.

Mr Yadav has been taking part in a protest by farmers from Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan against the controversial amendments to the land acquisition law that the Centre has proposed.

The protest, which saw 800 farmers with tractors, were stopped by Delhi police on Sunday citing security reasons. Reacting to this, Yadav said they had taken prior permission to hold the rally, so stopping them was unfair.
