Amit Shah says BJP has emerged as relevant force in J&K, ensures development in Jharkhand

New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party president Amit Shah on Tuesday attributed the party's emphatic performance in Jharkhand and Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections to Narendra Modi's government's agenda of development and change.

Addressing the media in the national capital, Shah said that all options are open as far as forging an alliance in J&K is concerned.

“All options are open in J&K, the final decision will be taken after the final results are out and how other parties respond or initiate,” the BJP president maintained, when asked about BJP's prospects of government formation in the hilly state.

Buoyed by the latest poll results, Shah said the BJP has now become a “relevant force” in J&K.

Shah, considered to be a close confidante of Modi, asserted that the BJP has bagged 23 percent vote share, while PDP stands at second position in J&K.

The BJP president also thanked the people of Jharkhand for electing his party to majority. He promised to give a stable government, which would take the state on the development path.

“The people of Jharkhand have given a clear majority to a political party for the first time after the formation of the state. I want to assure the people that the BJP will provide good governance and fulfill the promise of development.”

Taking a jibe at the Congress, Shah said the BJP is successfully fulfilling its campaign of 'Congress Mukht Bharat'.

“Congress has come down to either 3rd or 4th position in both states, this shows our campaign of 'Congress Mukht Bharat' is progressing successfully,” Shah said.

Further taking a dig at the Congress and 'Janata Parivaar', the BJP president said the like-minded parties Congress, Rashtriya Janata Dal and the Janata Dal (United) tried to pose a threat to the BJP, but the people of Jharkhand have given them a befitting reply.

“The poll verdict is a lesson for those who oppose our BJP-led NDA government's agenda of development and change,” Shah exhorted.

“The year 2014 has brought in unprecedented success for the BJP; first we won the General Elections and then performed superbly in Maharashtra and Haryana,” Shah said.

“I believe people of the both states have shown their love, affection and faith in BJP - I thank the people of Jharkhand and J&K,” Shah asserted.
