London: NRI industrialist Lord Swraj Paul today paid tributes to his youngest son Angad Paul, who died a few days ago after falling from his penthouse in central London.

"Angad, wherever you are, we are all with you...Your whole family. We will never forget you," Paul said, as he struggled to control his tears at a memorial ceremony here.

Hundreds of close friends and family members, including Indian High Commissioner to the UK Ranjan Mathai and deputy high commissioner Virander Paul, attended the ceremony at the London Zoo in memory of Angad.

Shlokas from the Vedas were recited by Dr Nandakumara, executive director of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan in the UK.

He also read out excerpts from the Bhagvad Gita, one of Angad's favourite texts, a copy of which he always carried with him.

Angad's children, Amalia and Arki, shared some fond memories of playing with their father at the moving and somber ceremony.

The London Zoo, a special place for the Paul family associated with memories of their daughter Ambika who died of cancer in 1968, was also where Angad had got married to his wife Michelle in 2004.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had expressed?his condolences on the sudden passing away of Angad during a meeting with Paul yesterday before he left for the G20 summit in Turkey.

"He was very generous, unbelievable warm and kind," Paul said after the meeting at Taj St James' Hotel in London, where the Indian PM was staying during his three-day tour of Britain earlier this week.

Modi had earlier telephoned Paul as soon as he learnt about the tragedy on Monday, as had finance minister Arun Jaitley, Home Minister Rajnath Singh and scores of other political leaders from India and the UK.

Over 1,000 well-wishers had gathered for Angad's funeral here on Friday morning to pay their last respects.
