Bypoll results: BJP wins in Muzaffarnagar, Congress in Deoband; SP suffers setback

The Bharatiya Janata Party wrested the Muzaffarnagar seat from the ruling Samajwadi Party, which also lost the Deoband seat to the Congress.

  • BJP candidate Narayan Tripathi is leading by 10,892 votes over his nearest Congress rival Manish Patel in Maihar Assembly by-poll in Madhya Pradesh's Satna district, the counting for which is underway.

  • Ruling CPI-M wins the Birganj Assembly by-election in Tripura's Gomati district, with party candidate Parimal Debnath trouncing his nearest rival BJP candidate by a margin of 10,597 votes.
  • Samajwadi Party's Anand Sen Yadav wins Bikapur (Faizabad) seat.
  • Harlakhi (Bihar) by-election counting: NDA candidate wins by around 18,000 votes.
  • Congress candidate Mavia Ali wins Deoband (Uttar Pradeh) by-election by 3,400 votes.
  • Shiv Sena candidate Amit Ghoda wins Palghar (Maharashtra) ​bypoll, defeating Congress nominee Rajendra Gavit by around 19,000 votes.
  • Ruling Shiromani Akali Dal wins the by-poll to Khadoor Sahib Assembly seat, with party candidate Ravinder Singh Brahmpura defeating his nearest rival Independent candidate Bhupinder Singh by a margin of 65,664 votes.
