BJP wants Mamata's apology for opposing NIA probe

BJP today demanded West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to publicly apologise for opposing a probe by National Investigation Agency (NIA) into the Burdwan blast.

Kolkata: BJP today demanded West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to publicly apologise for opposing a probe by National Investigation Agency (NIA) into the Burdwan blast.

BJP's West Bengal president Rahul Sinha, in a statement, also said that Banerjee should direct the police to cooperate in the blast probe.

"Mamata Banerjee should publicly apologise, or at least do it in Facebook, for opposing an NIA probe into the blast. She should apologise before the people of Bengal since opposing NIA investigation has delayed the matter," Sinha said.

He also lashed out at the erstwhile CPI(M) regime for going slow on anti-India activities in Bengal.

"The CPI(M) cannot shy away from its responsibilities. It was during its regime that anti-India forces had made inroads in Bengal. They had stayed mum due to vote bank politics. Now Trinamool is also following the same path," Sinha said.

A day after the seizure of a large number of explosive devices from a house in Burdwan, near the October 2 blast site, The chief minister had said she had no problem with the NIA probe since "terrorists are terrorists".
