New Delhi: BJP member Hukum Deo Narayan Yadav was at his wittiest best in Lok Sabha as he spoke on General Budget, taking pot shots at Opposition and sending the entire House into peals of laughter.
Speaking in his rustic style, Yadav mixed attack on Congress with lighter narratives while defending the Budget.
The 75-year-old leader from Bihar took on the Opposition for questioning the NDA government's performance in just nine months.
"You people say that a child is born in nine months. Correct. But can that child give birth to another child," he said targeting the Opposition and sending the entire House into peals of laughter.
At another point, he said the Opposition was criticising the government just for the sake of it.
"You are in Opposition, so you have to say something, otherwise people will question what you are doing.
"Apne netaon ko bolo iss taraf aa jaye aur 5-6 mahine ki training le le. Natak hi karna hai toh ache se karo na, ache director se seekh ke. (Tell your leaders to come this side and get a training. If you have to do acting, do it properly by learning from a good director)," he said, and narrated a related anecdote.
This again sent the entire House into peals of laughter. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and BJP veteran L K Advani were among those who were seen laughing uncontrolled.
Yadav also took digs at his erstwhile 'Samajwadi' colleagues while explaining why he joined BJP some 20 years ago.
"There are no samajwadis anymore. There are only 'so-called samajwadis'," he said.
"Tumhari party ke tukde hazaar hue, koi idhar gira, koi udhar gira. Hum kya karte? BJP ne toh bees saal tak mujh jaise ko badhava diya hua hai (your party broke into 1000 pieces, some fell here, some there. What could I do? BJP tolerated me for 20 years).
He targeted the Congress, saying its rule had hurt the farmers badly and left them to live a dog's life.
