Hardline Hurriyat Conference on Wednesday said the Centre's assertion that there was no proposal under consideration for a separate township for Kashmiri Pandits in the Valley was a victory of "Kashmiri brotherhood" and a defeat of "communal mindset".

Srinagar: Hardline Hurriyat Conference on Wednesday said the Centre's assertion that there was no proposal under consideration for a separate township for Kashmiri Pandits in the Valley was a victory of "Kashmiri brotherhood" and a defeat of "communal mindset".

"The cancellation of separate townships proposal for Kashmiri Pandits is the victory of the endeavor, unity and brotherhood of the Kashmiri nation and defeat of the communal mindset," Hurriyat Conference led by Syed Ali Shah Geelani said in a statement.

The Centre had yesterday said it had no proposal for setting up a separate township for Kashmiri Pandits in the Valley.

Replying to a question put forward by nine MPs whether there is any proposal to create separate zones for the community, Minister of State for Home Haribhai Parathibhai Chaudhary said, "No proposal to create separate zones exclusively for the Kashmiri Pandits in Jammu and Kashmir is under consideration."

The separatist grouping said it welcomed the return of the Kashmiri Pandits as they are an integral part of the society.

"We assure them that they are very safe in the neighbourhood of their Muslim brothers and they will live with dignity in their homeland," it added.
