New Delhi: Chinese ambassador to India Le Yucheng met India’s new foreign secretary S Jaishankar on Friday.

Speaking to reporters after the meet, Yucheng said, “Privileged that I am the first ambassador to meet S Jaishankar after he was appointed Foregin Secretary.”

“We talked about our bilateral relations, upcoming visit of External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj to China,” he said.

The Chinese Ambassador added, “We talked about the agenda, the possible outcomes of this visit.”

Swaraj will travel to China on a four-day visit starting tomorrow during which she will hold talks with her Chinese counterpart Wang Yi and attend Russia-India-China trilateral as well as India-China media forum.

During the visit, which comes within a week of US President Barack Obama’s three-day visit here, Swaraj will “discuss bilateral, regional and global issues of concern to both sides” with her Chinese counterpart.

The two sides will also explore the possibility of a visit by Prime Minister Narendra Modi later this year.
